In about mid-September, I found a post on my LinkedIn page about AI art. Someone had won an art competition and they had used AI (MidJourney) This made me quite interested in how it works. I did a bit of research and all you had to do was have a Discord account (which I do) and thought I’d give it a go as it takes about a minute to ‘render/produce.’ I was typing in all kinds of things and seeing what it could make from the words from the book. When it was making some amazing images, I realised I could use these to ‘advertise’ the book. That’s where I went to TikTok. I’ve been wanting to be more active on TikTok but never had any ideas. Plus, I haven’t seen anything what I was thinking of doing done before. I only had 3 videos on there, so, why not?
Not actually edited a video before, the first few days was a learning curve on how to use the app. I quickly made a short clip of zooming out from the book itself. I then add the image and then the video clip. Add the wording and then the music, editing when needed. I use the same hashtags for every video and add the similar wording to the description.
I have heard it is best to post every day but I do it every 2 days. For one, I currently don’t have that many images. I have a list that I work with but it does change often to fit special day, for example Halloween and Christmas. I have posted all sorts, mostly landscapes and certain places that people might be interested to find out more about. Every 3rd video is a badge that represents an Element.
So far, I have seen every video reach over 500 views and I have received hundreds of likes and most of them have been favourited. I honestly don’t know if this is good but I’m enjoying it. I currently have 31 followers, so a long way to go to add a link to the books (1000 followers) but we’ll see how things go.
Have I sold any books from this and where will this take me? The short answer is none as I can see but it is very early days. I will keep going for a few months with what I have in mind and then we’ll see where it will go from there. I will be adding the images to the website soon (when I have the time.) and all the other social medias.
